The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program at the University of South Florida is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in mechanical engineering principles. This program prepares students to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering; design and conduct experiments; and design mechanical systems to meet desired needs within realistic constraints.
Students will engage in a rigorous curriculum designed to develop analytical and problem-solving skills. The program offers concentrations in areas such as materials science and energy systems. Students participate in laboratory work, internships, and collaborative projects to enhance their practical knowledge.
The program consists of a blend of core mechanical engineering courses, technical electives, and general education requirements. Core courses cover topics such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and system dynamics. Students can choose electives in areas like robotics, automotive engineering, or renewable energy systems. The program culminates with a capstone project, where students apply their learning to real-world problems.
