A highly competitive, research-focused PhD program based at the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. The program receives over 150 applications annually and is ranked Tier 1 for Research by U.S. News & World Report.
The program begins with a core curriculum followed by specialized research in one of six concentrations: Allergy, Immunology, and Infectious Disease; Molecular Medicine; Cardiovascular Disease; Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology; Neuroscience; Pathology and Cell Biology. Key Milestones: Minimum 24 credit hours of didactic work plus laboratory rotations. Students must pass a Comprehensive Qualifying Examination to advance to candidacy. Original research culminating in a written dissertation and oral defense.
