Latvia Student Visa Process

Step 1: Secure Admission from Latvian Institution
- Apply and receive acceptance letter/enrolment proof from a recognised/ accredited institution in Latvia.
Step 2: Document Verification (Hello Verify)
- For applicants from certain countries (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, etc.) applying for a long-stay/student visa, there is a visa support document verification that must be done via a service called Hello Verify before submitting the visa application.
Step 3: Apply for Long-Stay / National (D) Visa
- Once verification is done, submit the national visa (type D) application through designated VFS Centers. For Indian nationals, there are VFS in cities such as Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kochi.
- Along with the visa application form, include all required supporting documents.
Step 4: Submission & Biometrics
- Submit passport, photos, acceptance letter, proof of accommodation, proof of financial means, travel insurance, etc.
- Biometric data may be required.
Step 5: Processing Time
- After submitting a complete application, standard processing time for long-stay visa is around 30 days.
Step 6: Entry & Residence Permit
- Once the Long-Stay (D) visa is issued (which is valid for initial period), upon entering Latvia you must apply for a residence permit at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA).

- Filled visa application form (for type D)

- Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of stay
